A Piece of Ben’s Story:

Ben’s struggle with addiction was both unique and identical to everyone else’s struggle with addiction. We’re not sure we can add any sense to that saga. But, here’s a bit about our boy, brother, and father, Ben.

When Ben was good, he was oh so very, very, good. To know him was to instantly like him. His engaging blue eyes, quick laugh, and quirky sense of humor drew you in. When he said something, you believed him. He loved animals large and small - birds, dogs, snakes, squirrels – all g-d’s creatures. If you were ever in a jamb, Ben is the guy you’d want by your side. Quick and decisive. Act now. Ask later. He saved his father’s life once. He saved his sister’s life once. And there are untold numbers of his friends who are alive today because of his quick action and clear thinking with CPR and, both fortunately and unfortunately, NARCAN.

As for all who take that one, last, lonely step, one question remains:  Where is my savior today? Ben knew his nemesis would come for him. Ben told us his exact fears. He was the strongest person I’ve ever known. Ben couldn’t stop it. We couldn’t stop it. Truths.

With the intent of creating good fortune for those who pose that very same question, in some measure, we hope the answer is – Ben’s House.
